A Well-read Man

A Well-read Man

A Poem by Sean C. Harrison
"

This piece speaks to the elements that make a man of integrity. It makes a play upon the literal meaning of being well-read and the figurative

"

 He doesn’t as widely

As he does so meaningfully.

His life is clear as glass.

You know his intentions

And he hardly mentions

Without purpose things of the past.

He is pukka in dealings.

 Of his innermost feelings

He is never ashamed.

He openly cries.

He rarely lies

And doesn’t shrink from blame.

But only if justified,

He willingly vilified,

Takes the seat on the low.

And when life proves much

You’ll tell it is such.

He’s meek enough to make you know.

It’s not just volumes he reads

But those of his deeds

That make a well read man true.

His steps are ordered

And follows with ardour

A God-laid Heaven-made plan too.
