Monologues

Monologues

A Poem by Diego Jara
"

A reminder, a cautionary tale, a slap in the face, a wake up call.

"
I say Fight it!
but lemme add,
that i never said to do it alone.
there is Love
exactly where you know
youll find it,
and its also in places where you never even thought
itd be hiding.
Fight it!
Till your fingernails have fallen off from
digging through your concrete
bunker,
and the rings round your eyes feel
like the only friends hanging round here any longer,
and yeah you might be right,
and even though
tho it feels like the you in the mirror
you catch while staring at the stars at night
is a you that you just aint never met
well, not yet-
im not saying it gets easier,
i only know you gotta get stronger!

so
F****n fight it!
Do it inspite of those who
told you
youd fail,
one day maybe, if you actually manage to make it you can laugh in their face
till yours goes blue...
and the shock from finding
youre
still
alive
makes them question everything
they thought
was true!

it aint over,
nothing is ever over,
till its Over over !

so what if youre covered in gray,
and weak, and full of irrational fears?
i just hope youre not too scared
to need a hand when yours have grown tired
of drying that river of tears,
cause when your frail bones start to rattle,
ill be listening, and ill be there
to help smack the sleep and
sand youve smacked back into
yourself again...
fight it or dont,
we always find ways to
find ourselves alone
but the road is wide
my friend,
and you were never meant to
walk it alone!

f**k it,
either fight it or dont,
but whatever you do,
im here,
so dont do it alone.
