Liberation

Liberation

A Poem by Chirag Kumar

She's isn't naked,
even when I see her,
bereft of clothes.
I see grim layers
on her face
which she hides with glee.
I see dark shades
of gloom flowing
beneath her restless hair.
I see decrepit skin
fortifying her soul's attire,
saving herself from revelation.

But no, girl,
I see all of you
even beyond your
made up nakedness.

Dried up tears
is what I feel,
when I touch your cheeks.
Semi raw wounds,
is what I notice
 on your fragile neck.
Shattered conscience,
is what I experience,
when I embrace you.
I know its tough
to move beyond
chaos of the past.

Our union, it seems,
against your wishes,
made up too fast.

But believe me, girl.
I love you,
every bit of you.
And I would take
all your scars
drawn on thee,
into me
to rescue you
from the shackles of misery
and take you
on a journey to liberation.

Author's Note

Chirag Kumar
There is a social stigma involved when it comes to innocent girls who were sexually abused. Though the mindset is rapidly changing, we still have a long way to go.
In this poem, I have attempted to put forth the perspective of a man who is in love with her and marries her irrespective of whatever happened to her.

Sexual abuse is a pathetic disgusting disease which aa coward rogue inflicts upon the helpless. But despite the fact that the sole culprit is someone else and might even have been punished by law, its the victim who suffers for life time. She wriggles in the painful process of self acceptance and on the top of that she faces judgements from the insensitives.

Kudos! Your poem makes one think. Like really think! And enough said about the overall piece, by the effect it has rendered upon me.
