Daddy's Home

Daddy's Home

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

My days were pained with great laments work and bills had beaten me down I wondered why god let this be the truth of life in my small town

"
My daughter Aris and I

When I was young and dreams abound

no limit to virility

My hopes and dreams had left a sound

of silent, calm, nobility

Nature had blessed my heart with love

so that light would live in my brain

And in that place that I called home

the flicker of love would remain

My days were pained with great laments

work and bills had beaten me down

I wondered why God let this be

the truth of life in my small town

I asked that question of my God

"send me a sign, that I might see"

As little feet echoed the street

cries of "Daddy's Home!" answered me

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
When we are young our own hopes and dreams are the only thing on our minds. Then comes the day when you realize how short and how sweet life truly is. When your child looks at you as a man and smiles with that innocent cried unwavering admiration for what you take for granted. The ability to put a roof over their heads and a song in their heart. I was thinking of my little friend Drake Cooper today. He use to run down the hall screaming "Tates here"!.Then jump in my arms. It reminded me of my own boy when he was that little. And so endeared him to my heart.

For all the fathers whose unsung dreams were just to be a part of their childs life.

Such an emotional write, Tate, I almost teared up - (but don't tell anyone!). Those last two lines really hit home. It's been a long time since my children were that small and dependent on me, but those memories never fade. The best times of our lives.

Ah Tate what are you doing - bringing a tear to my eye! This is really beautiful and quite emotional to read - especially the last stanza. Lovely poem.

This is such a heart warming poem. Makes me appreciate my father and all other fathers out there. Some of my fondest memories as a child and even now into my young adulthood take place when I'm spending time with my Daddy :)

You are a master of the written word, my friend. I felt every line of this one, both physically and emotionally. I can relate...from the time I was a little girl, I had an idea of what my life would become, and though I am happy with where I am for the most part, I would have never predicted way back then that I would be where I am now. It's a conundrumn for sure. This was beautifully written...the page simply bled with beauty. Nicely done.

..to be a part of their child's heart is the most important thing in the world...its the lesson that allows the child proper nourishment...the food that provides for the good man/woman of the future! If you did your child right...you did it all right! You tell it like it is Tate!

The line that stuck out the most to me was "no limit to virility" . . . I did a double-take on that one :)
