My Beloved Wife

My Beloved Wife

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

So like am I a grain of sand I compare my lifes own worth To all who were my ancestors sharing roots of each others birth

"

Rebecca and I

I am the little leaf falling

feeling but half my worth

No more to wave in the breeze

to heaven from this earth

I alone do think I dream

of the love I wish to live

I myself do think I want

much more than I can give

She sees in me what I cannot

making fast my hope and stare

She holds this heart with tenderness

her love lay everywhere

So like am I a grain of sand

I compare my lifes own worth

To all who were my ancestors

sharing the roots of each ones birth

As autumn falls upon my world

should the birds no longer sing

Will there be nothing left to give

but a prayer upon a wing

"Love you Mamma and Papa"

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Whenever I think the best is all behind me I look to my blessings. There I see the joys of my wife and granddaughter and the hope they embody therein. Though there may be fewer days ahead than behind. It is quite evident they will be every bit as beautiful.

We are part of our ancestors and their faces and thoughts become our dreams and hope also. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You make me believe with all the more fervor that life gets much more beautiful when one gets to share things with another! This wonderful feeling of togetherness, love and respect that sees only the beauty in every walk of life is truly a cherished one! You remind me of the concept of 'soulmate'.

I say this that your words shall inspire me forever to see this same feeling and the same beauty and joy in my wife, when I will embark on that journey, may be sometime in the future!

Every word of your poem is sacred to me. The way you compare with humbleness, to your ancestors; and the way you conclude your poem... Truly time shall move and people shall go, but these words and the meaning they speak about, shall remain... shall remain always in those who heard them!

A beautiful poem, Tate. Life is so fleeting, and we need to appreciate the people who have brought us joy, and know us better than we know ourselves.

Agreed on that point. thank you
Beautiful poem Tate. "She sees in me what I cannot" That's my favorite line. Sometimes I swear my girlfriend is the only person in my life who sees me for who I could be and not who I was. That's what that line reminded me of. Great work as always Tate.

Tate, I do believe this is among the most beautiful of your pieces, and I realize how difficult it is to choose favorites as you have penned so many exquisite, heart wrenching pieces!! This is a magnificent tribute to your wife, and to your ancestors, and to those who shall come after you!!!
May the winds of peace always blow softly for you and those you love!!!
......in my favorite's library for certain!!

Thank you Coyote a gentleman of true worth.
it only takes the love of a good woman to make a man relax and enjoy the simple things in life...he calms down, takes his time and everything seems so fine and right and real. finding love should mean finding peace, inner peace and enlightenment...when real love emerges it is as plain as the nose on your face...like opening your eyes for the first time and seeing all the beauty in the world. i am profoundly and deeply pleased that you have discovered those joys, my friend. well penned.
