Life

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Life is not a race to be won.

"

                                                     Tatertot

I wonder where the songs come from

watching children skip all 'round

Playing like time had no meaning

as snow fell upon the ground

Man's last words are never of work

nor to rule the entire world

They wish they'd spent time with others

as enlightenment's unfurled

When you rush along through your day

throwing out gifts un-opened

The dreams your parents had for you

the ones that go unspoken

Take time out of your stressful day

and try not to dance so fast

Life is not a race to be won

sadly the music won't last

The chance to dance upon this world is granted to us but once. Don't live the last half in regrets of lost moments from the first.

This is what I was looking for... Its so inspiring!!! Beautiful thoughts and beautiful words Tate... You always come up with something that's so overwhelming... There's so much to learn from you!
Time just slips through our hands and life just passes by when we are so busy planning...
Gifts un-opened, dreams unspoken... these are wonderful expressions!
Thanks for sharing! :)

And you have beautiful kids!!! :)))

I generally do not like rhyming poetry. This is a piece i'm drawn into, and the rhyming works for me. Good job!

Life may go on, but make the most of it and savor the wonderful moments. Once gone they never come back. And make sure to be there in those moments, never losing out what will be regretted later. Live in them well.

Love the pics. This is so beautiful just like your other pieces written. Children have such an awesome imagination.

Another great lesson on life. It seems as if people quickly forget that we all grow old eventually and there might be a lot of things we'll regret not doing. Or maybe regret they way we lived life. The way we arranged our priorities. The secret is to really sit down and take time, as you so beautifully stated in this poem, to think about life and think about what is really important. Slow down! Take a deep breath! Live...

I loved reading this one as it is just bang on true, well observed, and very poetic. It is as if you take us to one side to observe the big themes of life through your talent. We all know exactly what you are taling about, but few have the skill to marshall the simple words to say it just the way you do.
