My Son's Keeper

My Son's Keeper

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

My son how I love him.

"

                                                Little Tate and I

I am my life's sole keeper

in the garden of my dreams

Within it dwell the great hopes

along with all my schemes

Why for me only the hard way

has taught my mind since youth

Does it seem could be no other

than a fact and cold hard truth

I chose the road that I tread

from my bold disdaining action

I would never listen to another

except to my own satisfaction

Lucky that he knows me not

for my sadness hides regret

As they who think to know me

know less the nearer they get

My son how I do love him

touching most his dreams within

But all I want for his heart

is to not go where I've been

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
How often we look back on the road that wound through our lives? Only to find it would have been much better if we had taken the easy way. But perhaps some of us are destined to blaze trails yet unknown. It was so with me. And yet I can't but think how much I wish something different for my own son. None of us wish our children to hurt others .Nor do we want to see them in pain.

O.K.
so I try not to completely shower the writer with praise
when I write a review
but oh my god..
I'm such a crybaby lol I'm welling up.
That picture for starters
just looking at it
while reading this
but the way you ended it..
oh my goodness.
I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff. My favorite song is With Arms Wide Open by Creed...
the power of a parents love for a child.
Wowzers.
in short
I loved it
:) You're an amazing writer
They say that in order to write well,
you must write about what you know.
What you're familiar with.
This is a spectacular piece coming from an emotion you know well.
Pity this thing won't let me rate over 100.
You'd have a 110/100

this is a beautifully written poem portraying real emotions that a lot of us can relate to. and yes,we all want to spare our children the pain of doing things the hard way but unfortunately no one can really learn from others mistakes it reminds me of frank sinatra's i did it my way very nice loved the photos

My dad once told me something like: however happy and good or sad and bad a life might be, we all know who and how to love .. seems your son is a lucky, lucky boy cos you can gently guide him into living real life but with a sense of responsibility .. think of that!

Your words are lovely ..

Oh how you bring back the memories..how what i chose
when still so young i done everything the hard way
i felt the harder you lived the wilder and lovelier life would be
on every corner you would be surprised but you stood up for it
and in a way you came out as a winner..a winning only you could feel
i think life returned back to me ,she said ,alright you wanna play tough
i will show how tough i could be..and she was ,sometimes i thought
if i took everything nice and easy, would it be ever nicer to live
who could know ,how could tell, its only you ve done it the way you chose it to be
really enjoyed your thoughts here..how you came so close and hit something
lovely write

You are a very good writer... Your feelings are pouring out very well in this poem and best of all was the picture...
Your son's such a sweetie!!! :))))

These lines i liked the most:
I am my life's sole keeper
in the garden of my dreams & I chose the road that I tread
from my bold disdaining action
I would never listen to another
except to my own satisfaction

This really pulled at my heart strings. Very emotional indeed. I love it, but am saddened by the last 2 lines. :( I'm quite sure the writer was not such a bad chap after all.....How on earth could he be....to think along these lines....which you have shared so kindly with us.
Thank you

Babs xx

I like the picture which this piece paint in my mind, which is the story of my life. I do not have kids of my own yet, but someday I hope to, and this poem expresses the very being of the message I would like to pass on to them. I would choose a favorite line; however, they are so reflective and great I could not possibly choose but one. Great Work!
