Soul Mates

Soul Mates

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

So many lifetimes come and go between ill spent youth and the grave Hopes and dreams of generations Are the memories we all save

"

How many times have I met you

in the strangers that passed me by

Were you the one that touched my coat

the friend that once kissed me goodbye

How often have we stood in line

just to watch loved ones go to war

Then brushed away the tears of hope

as they ran off to join the Corps

Were you the one whose heart had ached

when my ship drifted out to sea

The foundered soul whose anchor broke

the one whose dreams had yearned for me

Are we destined to always be

just passing strangers in the night

Whose ebbing flowing tides of love

never met when the time was right

So many lifetimes come and go

between ill spent youth and the grave

Hopes and dreams of generations

hold the memories we all crave

Perhaps I'm just the little child

with a heart that once broke in two

Who walks the well-worn streets of old

searching for memories of you

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Don't we all wonder if another is the one for whom we were meant?
How many lifetimes must we pass by before our soul finds it's hearts desire?
This was for the green eyes cased in Honey Hue, that I once knew.
May she find this dream to be her own .

This piece simply makes me swoon in the ideals of such times. This is by far, one of my favorites. Tate, you have donr it again, made me simply have to stop and stare at the beautiful scene you have laid out here. "Are we destined to always be,
just passing strangers in the night" Even for a moment to pass by one so precious, it would be worth a lifetime. I can nearly hear the brass band in the distance.

I saw this and I thought I'd take a look. Glad I did. This is impressive. Really I like the raw emotion expressed within this! :D

In the quiet heart is hidden the desire for the soul's mate. One may never know the bliss of meeting them in each stage of life.. but if they get that chance.. even a brief encounter... I believe the soul knows, because it is like a reflection of one's self.

Searching desperately for the presence of a unique soul, blur memories of a love that wasn't forgotten. 2 souls meeting in the present with a feeling of familiarity, and a love that lived on. This is something have trouble letting go. And you describe that with such beautiful imagery.
Such a wistful poem, on a subject dear to my heart.
Thank you, that was beautifully done.

Oh that is so beautiful Tate! This writing is flowing like blood in the veins. It is definitely art to be recognized here. Many of us can feel like you do as you have penned your words so gently and spoken words keeping in mind the innocent way only a child can have... Thank you for such beautiful work and all the best and success for your piece of art.

This is beautiful! I have never felt the fear of someone leaving to the military or the pain of losing someone in the military. One thing I know, is that God has a plan and a purpose for all of our lives and He has us in His hands. I pray that your book is successful and that it reaches the hands, and that it will mesmerize the eyes that read it and touch the souls of those that understand it. Have a blessed day Tate!

Great period piece Tate and holding to that 40's kind of tone the photo starts and pulls our eye, to the mood of your presented music. As the words roll out. I really savoured this read as well, as my parents met right after WW II, my Dad having served in Italy as a motorcycle messenger. Training in Vernon my home town in 43 then Britain for Biker Deal.

Like the poem Flanders field, is powerful. Brings to mind for me, in Canada we have Rememberance Day for Canada's lost Veterns... 'Lest we Forget'. A period of time we should not forget and here, you remind us. This plays well in a genuine way, that really. Is a Tate Morgan signature.
As Always Write On / Right on! Ro... Peace my Poet Brother.

I thought I answered this.. You know this brought tears to my eyes.. It holds such beauty, such power in those lines that they speak to you inside deep.. To the soul they float Tate.

Is there such a thing? Soul Mate? I like to think so, but.... I am glad you found yours though.. We all deserve happiness and most deff you my friend, for the special person you are.

Loved this.. And the song, that goes without saying..

This really touched my heart.

"Are we destined to always be
just passing strangers in the night
Whose ebbing flowing tides of love
never met when the time was right"

To find the one would be like finding heaven.
