Beautiful Bliss

Beautiful Bliss

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We stand unafraid of the night.

"

_____________________________

Ambling along the endless beach.
We gaze into the imminent night.
Knowing the melting sun will leave.
Only to return at first mornings light.

________________________________

The pounding waves of the ocean.
Tell a tattle tale story of life.
Promising to last for eons to come
We forget our daily strife.

______________________________

Shadows cast beauties glow.
Upon the face of one so fair.
Telling me of your glowing soul.
Wrapped in the light brown hair.

______________________________

The cooling sands beneath our feet.
Like the countless worlds out there.
Stars peak out from shimmering darkness.
As if night lights from God to share.

______________________________

Misty fog rolls off the coast.
Dancing in an unknowing way.
Telling of things we can only dream.
Like a grand mysterious ballet.

______________________________

Of things we know so little about.
We hold to each other tight.
Assuring each of the others love.
Stand unafraid of the imposing night.

_____________________________

Resting our souls upon the sand.
We build a fire to light the sky.
Showing the way home to ancestors.
And the one that caught my eye.

Nature and spiritual feelings evoked. I agree with Doc on Stanza five. Overall, nice imagery:)

Elemental. This is how your poetry is. Simple and strong. She of the brown hair was lucky to find her way into this moment captured. There is a starkness about the poem and the image that goes with it. (I think of the English who landed in the 1600s with our language.) But the most interesting bit for me are the words 'fire' and 'ancestors' in the final verse. 'Fire' speaks of passion and 'ancestors' links the passion into all we are, which means the people and places from whence we come.

Nice memory... This poem has an appropriately narrow focus (why think about other things when this particular memory is so strong). It moves along pretty quickly, has a nice even meter, and a consistent abcb rhyme sequence with no distortion of structure to make the rhymes (bueno). I suppose you have avoided apostrophes in the poem for a reason (otherwise mornings, beauties, and others should have one). I think you have an extra 'the' in the last line. Nice work overall, but I'm not sure you've picked the best title you could. Not only does beautiful bliss sound a bit redundant, but the poem is so physical (gazing, pounding, cooling, peaking, rolling and so on) that bliss seems almost too dreamy a concept. Whatever... nice job!
