Homeless Soul

Homeless Soul

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

The lonesome anguish beckons Love lost aches and torments so Ferrell demons of the black night Seem as to never let him go

"

A man knows not his purpose

until left along life's road alone

Letting go things of his former life

caring not what he may own

As then he finds solace to cry

when he sees that he is so real

Living through dark rains night

he then knows that he can feel

In that one divining moment

his purpose becomes so clear

Caring no more for adventure

he now knows the taste of fear

The lonesome anguish beckons

love lost aches and torments so

Feral demons of the black night

seem as to never let him go

The love that once beheld him

has him thinking he's insane

The mirror shows no mercy

to the face held in it's pane

The man you passed by the road

who looked as to never sleep

May be he that touched love's heart

with a soul both wide and deep

Tate

Having been divorced I can tell you it is not unusual for a man who loves with his heart to inherit the winds of perdition.

A very deep piece; very open and honest. There are many shades to the love dream and most people seem to focus on the beautiful beginnings or the bitter end, but not so much the aftermath. Seldom do we delve into what we carry with us when the love is over, reflecting on the person we once were as opposed to the person we are now. How often do we stop to think about how love, or being in love, has changed us? How often do we consider that after love is lost we have something gained, even if it is only an understanding of who we are? This work really gives one something to think about, and I feel, as with most good poems, it is open to different interpretations pending upon each person's personal experiences with love and love lost. Extremely well written.

Tate I had to read this piece twice plus "your inspiration" to enter into this piece. The imagery of pain and perdition is flowing here. Part of this excellent write has so well incorported the human at a time of loss that it is undeniably real. The contrast enshrined in this piece is the hope that is found within the mortalitly of our beings. The same human capable of assuming unimaginable pain, is capable "in one divining moment" to recognise and seize its purpose! The foundation of this piece to me lies not in the end but in the thrid verse " Thank you for capturing so well this human element!

Best regards,
Vincent

The flow is very smooth, the rhyming is amazing. Absolutely wonderful; I really like this.

The first two stanzas seemed to halt in rhythm, lacking your usual succinct intensity, but the third more than made up for the slow start and the piece blossomed from there.

The lines: "Caring no more for adventure, he now knows the taste of fear" are so riveting it almost induces weepings. The last refrain ended well with "who looked never to sleep"; as one passes those cast out by life's twists, it is indeed soulful searching to wonder IF they sleep, let alone where.

Your choice of music heightens the dual purpose in this piece well.
