Days to Remember

Days to Remember

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Build your dreams with greatest care Don’t think on lives great sorrowed past Create a world so wondrous That through ice and fire it will last

"

Tatertot and I

Tatertot and I sharing a life lesson

We are architects of our fate

working within constraints of time

Some mens lives do seem so blessed

while others seem riddled with crime

For each of us stack stones of life

from our yesterdays we borrow

The blocks from which we build our days

are foundations for tomorrow

Build your dreams with greatest care

don't think on life's great sorrowed past

Create a world so wondrous

that through ice and fire it will last

Your child’s future held in your hands

go from failures cold darkened din

Show your son where you are going

not the tale of where you have been

This is my favorite verse because I'm just learning for myself not to dwell on the past. Great write.

Tate, what can I say, but great. This is a lovely, heartfelt poem. I, especially, loved the last be lines; how true. I have put it into my library!

Really nice message and i agree with your note.
You seem to always find the perfect picture for your poetry.
I always feel a little sad when i hear These Are Days to remember..

I need to heed this verse:

Build your dreams with greatest care

don't think on life's great sorrowed past

Create a world so wondrous

that through ice and fire it will last

Loved it and love your format it is easy to read .. some of the text i have read on here .. so small lol i think i am going blind!

I love this piece! Children do need guidance from their parents. I loved the last two lines in the last stanza. It made for a very strong ending.

As a philosophy, I don't know whether I totally agree that our fate is in our own hands. The people who seem to get on in this world are those who have no conscience, or moral values. (Just look at politicians!) An ability to lie, cheat and defraud will overcome honesty every time. When Christ said the meek will inherit the earth, he knew that it was the only way they would ever get it.

I latch onto the last two lines thinking that where we are going is conditioned by where we have come from, both in term of our genes and experience. Do we really have much if any control over where this takes us? Idoubt it. We are all the products of billions of random incidents and enlessly fallible. Good luck seems to be a key ingredient. But I rather like this as it stuffs those who are so fascist in their outlook they think they can cantrol everything ... then they end up with a genetically challenged kid or some other fly in their ointment that shows how fragile we all are. One breath at a time. Such is the nature of life. Wild. May it always be so, beyond our control or will.

Wow Tate. That is great advice to parents and even future parents written in a beautiful way. I love the last stanza. It is for me the most powerful stanza in the poem and holds a lot of meaning. Great write.
