Love Child

Love Child

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

In her I saw myself one day a cold spirit needing tending And in her face I saw the way to happiness she was rending

"

I crossed over a young girl's path

who had stooped and bent for hours

There she escaped to love from wrath

while she tended to her flowers

In her I saw myself one day

a cold spirit needing tending

While in her face I saw the way

to happiness she was rending

Simple things of a little girl

who swayed in the breeze that came through

Tousled curls all wrapped in a swirl

crowned top a smile that the wind blew

So take the gifts that you have earned

then turn out surcease from despair

To reap the pearls others have learned

echoing childhood calls "be fair"

With pride deposed and passions slain

we hope, aspire and then on trust

Beneath vaulted skies we attain

to master life before we're dust

Simple pleasures are their own reward. People we don't need 15 pairs of acid or stone washed jeans. That come in 28 different sizes and cuts. Happiness comes from needing little and giving much. If you learn to be content everything else is an unexpected joy.

One thing I've notices about your poems is how well connected you are with the state of childhood. It is so important to you, moreso than for most adults. This is a great lesson though for the rest of us, as understanding children is very important if we are to do our best for them. It is also beneficial to he adult to be so connected with the innocence of childhood. And for adults who wonder what it is all about, it gives them the best possible reason for being better adults. This linkage with childhood is so important for all of us and delightful for all concerned when we get it right. So the thrust of your poetry is very important. You also observe peoples' moral state very well. I somtimes find your poetry hard because you show no sly cynicism or witty cunning, you are relentlessly well intentioned in all you write. BUT ... you will always get my vote because we all of us need a conscience and if we don't have a strong one of our own we can benefit when we are reminded by somoeone else how we should be in an ideal way of things. Maybe you are my conscience in some way. For which thank you. I will try to be nice to my own kids tomorrow in some extra small way.

Great!
My fvorite party was
''In him I saw myself one day
a cold spirit needing tending
And in his face I saw the way
to happiness he was rending''

That touched me the most!
But the entire poem was amazing!

You cull treasures from a source of beauty. A joy to read, well done.

The song tells you the tale and the poem tells you the song.....a feeling that is simply beautiful.

I'll be out of town and State from tomorrow until the 25th, so back online the 26th. I am hoping to keep up some poetry from the hotel computer, but not promising, I might have a notebook full of poetry though, lol. Text me or call if you need me. I will not answer right away if I am driving or can't get a signal [which is rare]. Be well and catch up with you soon.

you have amazing observing traits ! i felt as if you have certainly seen this child and felt exactly the way he was feeling .. makes me wonder if people really grow up or do they just add up years to their lives .. most often than not it's the latter that's true . reflecting back i do realize that life was much better as a child .. full of compassion for others . thanks for sharing

...
. beautifully written, tate, with a profound message ... i am reminded instantly of my many train rides within india ... and waving to children who wave from their little villages spread across india's landscape ... and for some of us ... it doesn't end there ... children's lives are our concerns ... they bring us new hope and inspiration ... they remind us of all that we have forgotten ... and when they smile ... it's divine ... i think this is an excellent choice for the poet's voice ... you've always given pre-eminence to the welfare of children ... as well as the philosophy of life ... the important tenets ... like you do here too ...
