Ivor

Ivor

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

It would seem my friend has faced the last sunset as he did life, with dignity. This is for our friend and fellow poet Ivor, Poeticpiers

"

He sees the world through learned eyes

that have witnessed many affairs

All the rising, falling empires

through history's gaze he now stares

But on they come from far and wide

beating a path up to his door

As if what they had to offer

he had never heard of before

Yet still they will not stop trying

to sell him wares of their own ways

And save the soul of this good man

before he meets his end of days

As a product of the old school

he's seen it and done it before

There is no need to prove himself

to each child who comes to the door

They could stand an education

from this man with a long life span

Never try to teach an old bard

on the new ways of god and man

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Ivor is one educated kind soul .Whose intelligence leaves him the unenviable task of having to witness the truths of life. Thankfully he possesses the heart of a lion and soul of a poet He is a humble man .I am sure he will protest that he does not deserve this. But I say he does. Who are you going to believe? It would seem upon investigating last night that the reason I hadn't heard from my friend of late is that he passed away. I will miss him. He drove me to excellence and made me admire him. Goodnight Ivor my friend from across the pond. Ivor wrote me 16 poems over the years as he did with his friends most of them anyway. We exchanged thoughts and ideas. But he could not imagine how this one would drive me to create all the poems I call my own. Thank you Ivor for taking me under your wing when I first came here.

I sooo love him!! He is one of the finest men I know and have had the pleasure to meet. This song is one of the greatest fitting peaces that so reminds me of him.. You have hit the nail on the head with your wonderful words and tribute to one of the finest out there my friend.

Just amazing!

Though I know him only here, I think you have it right, a kind and educated man.
We should catch more people doing stuff right.
Good lookin out there, Tate.

How wonderful. You can learn so much from such an established man. Your words paint a wonderful portrait that even the pictures you've posted cant paint. And yet, the pictures of him speak louder than words or humans alike ever can. I bet he's a great person. Thanks so much for such a wonderful read. I feel honored.

Of course we'll believe you, Tate - Ivor simply has no say in this. This poem is up to your usual standards, though I question histories in the first stanza (thinking it should be history's or histories' at the very least). And the superfluous 'on' in the last line seems to be there for meter alone. Good tribute!

Awe Tate before I read the poem, my favorite some started playing and I cried because that song gave me such inspiration when I was going through my abusive situation. The poem is so inspiring and I really enjoyed reading this, thank you...My change has come!!!
