Pleasantary

Pleasantary

A Poem by Adelia Alighieri
"

Can't define it's type. Written outta experience.

"
Widen your horizons
Close your hazel eyes
Understand that God is never unjust
Think of all the happy things that have happened to you so far
And all that future will one day unravel
Wish of scarlet love and angelic peace
Think about people who think of you each second
Listen to the song of your heart and soul
Watch out for fame and fortune alike
Read your soul mate's mind
Wait for a miracle, wait for blessings, and wait for death
Wait for true love's first kiss
Stare at the best picture you have of yours
Stop complaining Whistle your favorite tune
Jump on bubble wrap and laugh until tears roll out of your eyes
Touch the moon and wish you were in heaven
Desire for diamonds and pearls
Face magic and tragic together
Live larger than life
Whatever happens, do not stop breathing
So take a deep breath
Deeper
Smile at the thought of your family, friends and embarrassments
Pray for an eternal life after death
Judge your enemies from their faces
Play a card trick and sip hot cocoa
Smell your hair to count the days it's been since your last shower
Kiss a baby's cheek to know how tender and sweet life can be
Hug your mother, if you have never before
Race to the next bus stop
Laugh with others when they play a prank on you
Scream when you meet your favorite artist
At least once, let someone fall in love with you
Take bad news as no news
Become a child when with a child
Listen to the birds chirping and understand their freedom
Cry when you win
Jump in the river, only if you know how to swim
Mourn your bad luck, forget optimism
All good things life gives us, cherish them
And believe in yourself, your ambitions
So when you die
You don't have to blame anyone else for your life
And could peacefully, open your eyes to face the hereafter.

I don't agree with Alya, a poem cannot be too long or too short, it's how you perceive it and how much you want to be interested in it. When you set out to read a poem, finish it, embrace it like it's your own, try and feel the essence of it's substance, why it's written, why it exists, then judge it according to it's purpose, and reason over it's meaning, but it's no one's place to tell you how long or short your poem is and whether or not it's good. I can see this poem wasn't meant to rhyme, it wasn't meant to roll sweetly over the tongue, but you have achieved what you set out to do, catch my imagination, see the truth in it all, I agree with every line, every phrase. It's an amazing agenda for life. It can be simply expressed with my favourite quote of all time... "the more you live, the less you die."

Keep the great work up! loving it :) x

Touching. A couple lines, I especially like:
Listen to the song of your heart and soul - beautiful
and:
Jump on bubble wrap and laugh until tears roll out of your eyes - I just had to smile
overall, a nice reminder of everything we have. Thanks for sharing.

The Shadow On My Shoulder
There is an angel who sits upon my shoulder who goes by the name of Death...

"Jump on bubble wrap and laugh until tears roll out of your eyes."

Made me want to laugh out loud. You capture so many joyful moments, so many timeless smiles and cries in this simple form of writing. I love it. It goes into the favorites. :)

This poem was truely amazing, I have a hard time writing this so... upbeat. Everything I write seems to have that undertone of tears so I always admire a writer who can express the better, brighter side to life. I particularly like the last four lines, because I agree with them. If you believe in yourself and walk on your own two feet, then your life is your own and when you die you can be satisfied that you were in charge of you, and that no one is going to feel guilty or sorry about your life when it's over. Very nice job, keep writing, you're great at it.

This reminds me so much of "Run Silent Run Deep". I hope it was this that inspired this lovely list of scrumptious suggestions for living life to it's fullest. This is a beautiful piece, both profound and sweet, with just the right touch of youthful Naivety. Keep it up woman. This is a totally enjoyable and endearing read.

Interesting to read all these experiences in one poem. This poem reads like a stream of consciousness. I was left with a smile at the end. Thanks for sharing.
