A Poem by Ashley Kessel

Along the road I walked

Briskly trying to blend in with the

Cowed of people in front of me

Deep in the sea of people I see

Everyone in their own world of a hurry swarming with

Fatigue

Grief, with

High hopes of being on time to work

In the end, they won’t be

Just when I thought I could part the sea of people a

Kind man pulled me aside

“Let me help you.” he said

Masking his face with an old ski mask he starts to walk. I follow close behind

Not knowing who he is

Or what his plans are, scare me

Perhaps he has a good heart

Quietly I follow behind, hoping no one has seen that we have taken the beaten path away from ciaos

Running down the alley I try to keep up with the man

Soon screeching to a halt, as the man stops right at the corner

Then I look at him and say “what! What is it?!?”

“Under our feet the world shall fall” he whispers with a slight chuckle

Vines started breaking through the earth’s crust, making the surface split in two.

We grab hands, holding on to each other as our world collapses beneath our feet

Xylophones playing off in the distance as we both look at one another knowing what’s to come

You look in the eyes of the old man, seeing his dull eyes full of happiness. As we watch the world come to an end.

Zero people left, as the world crumbles, sucking everyone in, including you. Still clutching the old man’s hand as your life ends before your eyes.

Spectacular acrostic!!!

It tells an amazing story... I loved the concept that you have used here... The poem moves in a motion and keeps the reader interested about which path the poet is taking and where the man is taking her, the ending was superb as the poet watches the end of the world in a mere moment, everything swallowed inside the earth... This is a brilliant write, acrostics are never easy and specially to write something this long is absolutely amazing... Very well done frnd...

Sincerely
Dhiman
