In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory

A Poem by Aspiring Angel

I know there does exist the place
called 'Rainbow Bridge' that
is spoken of by poet's pen.

I've cried a million tears it seems
since you left to fall asleep

in the arms of our Kimberly.

Somehow I must now find a way
to let your memories become sweet
and your physical absence
to become less haunting.

Until I do, in my heart,
you will only be in the next room,
laying in the hallways,

or will soon be pestering me

as I work in the kitchen.

I see you everywhere in my mind's eye.
I expect you to drop by for one
of our Mommy/Tinker chats
and my heart breaks again when I
realize that you are truly gone.

Yesterday, I received a condolence card
from your Doctor and his staff.
On its cover
was the poem Rainbow Bridge.

Tonight, I was finally
able to read it all the way through.

I was standing in the kitchen and
as I finished reading, I placed their gift
upon the vacant spot where you always
pearched yourself to watch me.

It gave me a peace as I placed it there.

The kitchen lighting fell upon
the picture of the rainbow, making
it appear to glow as it sat in your
favorite place to be in the house
when our day was done

 and you patiently waited for

 my lap to become yours.

I wandered around our home trying to
keep the tears again from spilling
but I kept finding myself drawn to the
computer where so often you laid beside
me on the 'L' of my desk.

I knew the time had come for me
to try somehow to write my heart.
I did a music search for
'Rainbow Bridge'
and was really surprised to see the
title come before me as a choice.

I had never heard the beautiful words
playing behind my own until a few
moments ago.

It seems tonight my darling Tinker
we talk to each other, for the song
began to speak to me as yourself
and for the first time in a long time
I could feel that you no longer suffer.

You have arrived at Rainbow Bridge
and you are eager to explore the beauty
of your new home away from me for awhile.

All of outside is now yours my friend.

You will always be so special to my heart
I will always love you.

I released you from my arms so you
would no longer have to leave me
a little more and more each day.

I release you from my tears
so you can rest in peace.

In Loving Memory Of

Tinker

My heart wrapped in a ball
of black and white fur and
beautiful eyes.

For twelve years you shared
my joys, fears, and sorrows.

You will remain forever in my heart
My beautiful Tinker Dink.

This is such a wonderful piece you've written for your dear cat like that... I never thought about writing any memoriable for my pets before... Now that your writing got me thinking and I'm remembering the time from my first dog throughout toward on the last time I had my last dog along with other unusual pets I had before... Even Remy, the African Graybird, who always talked back at me lol I miss them all one way or another...

Anyway, it's sure is the most touching piece I've ever read in a while and now I'm thinking about to go out and get another one to drive me crazy all over again...

I hope you can find peace in quiet places
where memories become treasures
and the sadness subsides.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Lesa. Sweetly, tenderly, you have shown us what love you have for Tinker.
