Call out the Sound

Call out the Sound

A Poem by Lily E. Lin
"

On how words heal and hurt, often at the same time. On how to hide our pain we block our ears and the only way to heal is to rip apart the bandages and let in the voices of others who can heal and hurt us.

"

Call out
Let me hear your voice the sounds
The music of vibrating cords
Caressing dried tissue
Binding the pieces of broken ness
Bandages of melodious resound
Verbal salve on the lonely gaps
Reminding me Im not alone

The sound barely reaching
Grazing the thinnest veneers painting
The gilded edges of living

Like fins stretching
Of iridescent colors shimmering
On bands of hope, tomorrow, and dreaming

Of something so ethereal
Flickering yet eternal
This dream never waking

Call out the sound
Of hardships coming
Of bitterness and ice cold ground
Of waking

The sound that may heal frozen wounds, also
Shatters the frosty dreams open

Call out the sound. Will I wake from my slumber?

I wrote down my intentions in the description, but how would you interpret this? Oh, and in the first verse fifth line, "broken ness" is intentionally split apart in that manner. Does that work?

This is a great write. The description fits perfectly. We have to let those in who could hurt us in order to heal

Wonderful images and thoughts. I like your use of metaphor as well. It is ironic that the voices that hurt us most have the power to heal us at the same time, many times into a new being much different from the one left in their wake.

i would never assume to correct someones grammar unless it was an obvious spelling error but thanks for the heads up on "broken ness" :) I think this is an interesting format and style that you present. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work .. well done :)
