When Rain Falls Hard and Knows It Shouldn't (Splintered Heart)

When Rain Falls Hard and Knows It Shouldn't (Splintered Heart)

A Poem by Austin Hennings

I took for granted what was given to me
And if I get it back
I know I'll lose it again
I can see it through miles ahead
And not know it's the best it's ever been
Take me to the moon to see the stars
Inside of me is a splintered heart
That's chipping away like rotting wood
When rain falls hard
And knows it shouldn't
