Cement Sweat

Cement Sweat

A Poem by Jordan Warren

Turn it up, tear it apart, loud enough to forget the cage you're in
We're angry, we're wild, we're breaking out
All the walls are pretty vacant, built to keep the lies alive
Refuse the pretty picture, choose the ugly truth
It's blood that brings us to life, not your plastic smiles
Reject the recycled ideas, make your own reality
It's the music that sets us free, not their glass promises
Move and writhe till you're nothing but sweat
God save the queen, God save the teens
Scream and yell until they take notice
Rise above the silence, step above your chains
Max out the volume, make the ground shake
Loud enough to forget your hands are tied
We're young, we're hungry, we're fighting back
The iron bars are caving in, dead end teens hold the key
