The Battle of The Mona Lisa

The Battle of The Mona Lisa

A Poem by Piper
"

I faced a great battle to get the best picture

"
The Louvre maze
Going through the endless halls is a haze
Tourists taking pictures, and some video taping
Endless faces observing the art with mouths gaping
I see signs to reach to the lady
I follow them with my camera ready
Yet they lead to no where
Just to add to my despair
Where is miss Mona Lisa
This historical diva
She is not with religious paintings
Or with old oil stains
She has to be somewhere
Maybe over there
Where the tourists gather together
With cameras around their neck tethered
I push my way into the crowd
Seeing the glimpses as I charged ploughing
To get my one picture
As with my advance the crowd gets thicker
I push and I shove
As I dodge an elbow above
I weave and I slither
As the Mona Lisa comes hither
My one chance
To take a picture with this advance
I turn around and take a selfi
Now just feeling lucky
I make a silent cheer of victory
And I send my silent valedictory
In end I can't find a solid route
But yet I make my way out

I am no master at poetry by no means. Fiction writing is more my area to critique in depth but I will leave a few comments. You expressed the experience quite, quite nicely. For someone who is an art nut, they could surely relate to the giddy joy you expressed at coming across the historic lady. The poem overall has a nice structure and a nice flow to it. Really well done.
