Magnets

Magnets

A Poem by Blue Poppy

Two magnets aimed together

A bottle of pinot and a box of chocolate

A sweet and a sour

A laugh and a smile

Two magnets turned, side by side

Only the shallow, the kind

Broken promises and wandering eyes

Two ribbons cut from similar cloth

Two magnets opposed both pushing on their north

A tangled bedsheet and whispered words

“Who am I?” the gasp escapes me

You lay and snore
