Poetry Friends (WPOM)A Poem by beautifulblade
We sit on opposite sides,
take notes in hello kitty spiral notebooks and pass smiley faces back to one another. We are childhood friends, united in our journey of words across the airwaves as we write our poetry onto each passing minute. I've never met you, but the laughter that we've shared is as genuine as any best friend sleepover when you stayed up too late, shushing each other louder than your whispers. We have bonded over bacon and the root word of 'smurf'' cause we know that somehow, our madness makes sense in a world when everything moves too fast and spins too slow and we wait for the next cue for us to litter the ground with unspoken letters to some random person who took our breath away. And then we remind ourselves to breathe. breathe... we have to breathe even when we don't want to. even when we just want to sit in still silence and revel in the calmness of the night. but then lungs start to burn and we remember our purpose and the air we breathe out is as cluttered as my room, which means there is never any space to fit anything in its place and you throw something in and hope for the best. because sometimes, that's all you can do. So until our words cross in a distant plane, it will be the same each Friday night as we come together for a time of refreshing insanity with a few good friends whom we've never met. We sit on opposite sides, type notes onto keyboards and pass hearts back to one another. We are poetry friends, bonded through the art of words on a page.
