3 Muskeer'ed Tears

3 Muskeer'ed Tears

I used to love 3 Musketeers --
rooting candy bowls and
supposedly empty
desk drawers
as I sat in your lap,
focusing on taste
instead of feeling.

Hide my cringe behind a smile
as barbed wire hands
wrap around my stomach,
uncomfortable silence
punctured by sweet nothings
and sour milk whispers.

I used to love 3 Musketeers,
but now sticky chocolate aftertaste
can't cover bitter memories,
and I can't even look at them
anymore.
