You Caused That

You Caused That

A Poem by Beren
"

This is my feelings about a murder on the news that I am still not ready to talk about and I can't choose the right words for. The biggest pains are silent and they need to be talking about the most.

"
I used to sleep in pitch darkness
Now I only sleep when the sun rises
You caused that

We are talking with the girls how we gonna defend ourselves
And mom is warning me for not to have a boyfriend
We were the same age
Now we are the only ones who will grow with that pain of the women we never met

I try not to look at the news and think what he did
What he made you believe with his sickness indeed
News shows he is dead
He is death
He caused that

I see him in every guy I met
We haven't talked anything but that.
Still not enough cause people forget
Her mom won't forget.
I won't forget.
You caused that

I cannot blame you for feeling the way you do....murder is atrocious, cruel, barbaric, and many times it pains us personally and we cannot let go of that pain....anger is part of pain .....and worst of all we keep that pain inside of us....silence...and you feel the need to talk about it as you should... I like your honesty and your chosen words in this piece...very nice!

I understand the origins of this feeling. I was sweet on this girl at my High School in my freshman year...we were just virginal kids and kissing was the biggest sexual thrill we knew. I was also sweet on her best friend. They wrote me notes asking me to choose between them. So I ended up choosing her friend. That summer the girl I did not choose was murdered, raped and butchered by escaped convicts from a local prison camp. It still haunts me almost fifty years later. Her best friend became an alcoholic and ruined her own life. So I'm very empathetic to the feelings expressed here and I'm so sorry you have to go through this pain. Blessings of peace and love. F.

A tragedy in the past that won't leave and that those around you won't let leave as well. Talking to a neutral party might help. This poem is haunting and dark with a feeling of being unfinished. Powerful words.

The influence that a human being can have on another human being, for better or worse is very well inked in this poem. It is so true that we can be an instrument in things that happen to somebody else. If we are not an instrument for good we should never be an instrument for evil or cause upset, sadness, pain for others to endure at our hands. People never forget, that is a fact of life and this poem gives all of the reasons what the don't. An in-depth write! Thank you for sharing...
