Half past mortality

Half past mortality

A Poem by The Elder Pine

Casualties of champagne
Disaster calling
Damaged Labyrinth
Inebriation-dying Inside
Name me-call, I may
My dark disparity

Essence aura
Said to sure an infancy
My fidelity finite
Escape cast of night
Temporarily, barley
Physically I survive the scourge
Inside however, my soul
Crumples, burns and dyes

While Spirits (alcohol) can be a nice release everyonce in a while. Prolonged use for the wrong reasons can destroy someone.
I believe your poem captured that essence very well.

I'm not sure if it was the way you wrote it, or just a quirk in the posting process, but the print seemed to get smaller towards then end. It added a wonderfull image of someone shrinking into oblivion with the assult of to much to drink.

Wonderful poem! :)

would you mean barley as barely, and dyes as dies? I felt those were the more appropriate words to what I can see is the message.

Great choice of words and rhythm, this is a good piece.
