EMPIRICAL DECAY

EMPIRICAL DECAY

A Poem by Bill Grimes Jr.

High stakes players
Warn of dismal earnings
Fortunes vicious curse
Tired are we
The stooges
Self induced bewilderment
As Babylon crumbles
Rotten legacy
Insatiable greed
Empirical decay
Sad echo
Fleeting prominence
Cost of blatant arrogance
Hissing last breath
Robust hypocrisy
Alarming depth indeed
In a turbulent sea
So many ways to love
Sacred strand of hope
Spiritual lifeline
Manifest by holy grace
Time to surrender
Humble retribution
Only one solution
His brilliant light beckons

Great poem,it reminded me of a good rock song that you wish was longer.

You are one of the few writers here I have encountered who use minimum word usage in their poetry. I think you have mastered this quite well; keeping your imagery intact and still deliver a commanding tone to your piece. The title is unique and gives the overall piece more depth.
