White Roses

White Roses

A Poem by Jamie-Lynn
"

Satin petals...

"

With sorrow filled eyes,

and biting their lips.

Sweet, little white roses,

with dark, bloody tips.

Raining pale satin,

dotted with red.

Pooling in scarlet,

as petals gingerly shed.

The stagnant warmth,

a liquid life.

Drenching the roses,

and staining a knife.

Each vein bursts open,

Drowning each rose.

Killing, currupting the flower,

'til it's white barely shows.

Tender, silken buds,

bursting in bloom.

They come to an end,

far, far too soon.

"With sorrow filled eyes, / and biting their lips" is an interesting expression, and works well with the 'bloody tips' later. It is an explanation of why the tips are coloured, and of course interests the reader into why the flowers are hutring themselves. An interesting look at the impermanence of nature.
