Purpose

Purpose

A Poem by sette
"

Just wondering

"

Existence before Essence

Is Sartre’s favorite line.

Yes, we exist

We are here living,

Breathing,

Moving,

We tackle our lives,

Day by day,

Go about our routines,

Fulfill our desires

Follow our wills

But?

What are we here for?

For ourselves?

For others?

For the society?

What are we REALLY here for?

When I read your poem about questioning one's purpose, I'm reminded of my cousin who went to high-priced seminars all his life, writing out long diatribes he asked me to read, as he tried to find his purpose in some new fandangled notion of spirituality. I am of the mind where we just need to find something to DO that gives us some purpose, such as volunteering or caring for others, etc. We can think this thing to death or we can just start living it & finding it as we go. I don't mean to criticize your message, as it really conveys how many people approach this, so much thinking & questioning. You've nailed it, how it goes for many, but I just don't think questioning finds the answer! *smile* Fondly, Margie

no problem with me margie, actually want to thank you for the wonderful review.
You always come to a point in your life where you question the purpose of your existence.most times I find this comes when there is conflict.especially when you are at the bottom looking up.maybe you find the answers within yourself rather than the world around you

A question, I'm sure, that has been asked throughout eternity.
A very good question and only one person, I think, has the answer.
And He's not telling any of us His answer.

Keep thinking, remember it was Descartes that said,"I think, therefore I am."

Take care - Dave
