sanity

sanity

A Poem by sette

The first time we met,

there was no attraction,

I was going out with your friend,

and you were with someone else.

Fate had played a big part,

how come we end up together.

was nobody’s guess.

It was a nightmare from the start.

The more conflicts we had,

the more we prove to them,

that we love each other beyond bounds

and that is to stay.

There was a point,

that we almost broke up,

which will make people happy

to see the end of this.

But then,

love had surfaced in the end.

It had conquered the fears,

It had stayed that way for many years.

Little did I know,

the love I have for you

is tearing me piece by piece,

I was broken because of this.

Pity cannot equate with love,

and never will be.

The challenge of loving you

was hard to resist.

But it was not love,

as I look back at the past,

all those shattered pieces

of both you and me.

It simply became a disaster,

nowhere to go,

but to end it

for both our sakes’

for our sanity as well.

If one had the sight
Tears would streak their face
Of the horror among scattered stars seen so bright

Catastrophes galore would be seen if you were privy to the scene
Like our microscopic lives on this rock life there is as obscene
Many things, viewed from afar, oft appear pretty and bright

The gloom and doom is very apparent upon close review
Yet the sight is not even the half of the horror
The tragedy is how awful and chaotic the interactions

Many a calamities seen by all on their individual bright stars
One would think with all the darkness that occurs
Others would not see their star at all for all the sadness

Some how some way lives co-exist on all the stars
Tragedies a many occur daily
Yet from afar all that is seen is a bright shining star

One taking all into consideration
Might conclude that it's best to be seen from a distance
Than to get close and personal to see the real mess

May we all appear as bright shining stars
May others be content with the distant beauty
May we continue to make it daily through the mess

A sad but all too common fact of life for too many. When equality fails, love fails. There has to be both give and take from both sides, as when one does all the giving and the other the taking, sense will always prevail, no matter the pain it will cause.

totally true the question is why did it take a long time?
So relationships don't go together and for yours it is probably a good idea to have gone your own ways... I know it hurts but you seem to be healing yourself... Thanks for sharing so others can also heal..

that is one of the reasons why i wrote the poem so that it can help heal others as well.
It is best to walk away when such a great love ends. Sometimes it is difficult to love someone yet our heart takes on the challenge. Yet there comes a time when sadly we have to quit. Not for anything else but for saving our sanity. A very deep poem, sette.

yes totally true my friend
"The challenge of loving you was hard to resist."

That's it, isn't it, that one we all face - the challenge of it, even in the face of adversity, we want to conquer.

Good write. Filled with angst, and heartbreak - failing, falling and yet still arising to the challenge.
