Grown Up

Grown Up

A Poem by blkberry4u

I Don't Wanna Grow Up!

I wanna spin wildly on a merry-go-round

Get hyper and excited when I hear the sound...

of the ice cream man

Running to the truck with change in my hand

Hmmm will it be the one with the gumball in the bottom or the orange sherbet push-up?

Grown-ups shaking their heads at me...under my breath I say, "Oh shut up!"

Off to the park then I race to the swings

Today I'm just not feeling the grown-up thing

No company meetings, no adult debaters

Rather swap sour apple for banana now n laters

Don’t wanna worry about dotted i's, crossed t's, and who knows

I rather sit Indian style with a bowl of spaghettios

Sometimes when I want to detach myself from the grown-up world

I flip thru the channels seeking Smirfettes, you know the little blue girl

Happy sipping on the red kool-aid in my cup

I miss being a kid now that I'm all grown up.
