No More Lighting Matches

No More Lighting Matches

A Poem by Megan

Cycling circles,

painting  spirals across

eminence of loving.

the start of the circle:

depression, disregardance for self

worth: dependency on others for

a happiness unattainable by my

own personal patterns.

one glance pouring

gasoline upon an unlit

match. the end of a not

yet beginning,

the light heating the

fire.

like a circus, the fire

ring.

resisting the urge to light

the match to continue lighting the

ring of fire, the ring of

despair, the ring without commitment.

I pour water to the flames

of past depression,

what burned down past

relationships.

And look forward,

the fires of the past

which can no longer burn

the posstibilities of the future.
