My Own Cinderella

My Own Cinderella

A Poem by Megan
"

I've wanted to write a poem for a couple days with the last two lines. This is my first attempt. Let me know what you think?

"

Googly eyes at myself
in the mirror,
lacing lashes delicately
with layers of mascara.

Bright, glowing
lavender eye shadow,
a pool of pink and purple
blended with an applier.

Black, thin lines
painted on lids
hiding blue-grey eyes
sparkling like
jewels the color of the ocean.

Bathing in clear blue fabric
as if swimming in a lake
so crystal, so clear.
Ruffles cascading the side
as ripples.

Curls,
dancing in twirls on
the nape of my neck,
fighting to break
from the ears' blockade.

knock knock

Someone knocking?
I rush
to the clear looking glass
one last glance
so nothing is out of place.

A girl
- no, a woman -
unfamiliar.
Spiral ringlets surrounding
a painted face
like a porcelain doll,
untouchable.

My fingers reach out,
graze the image of the woman
seemingly floating before me.
Who is she?
Is she me?

knock knock

Time to leave
for a night
of beat and rhythm
dancing and dinner.

One final glance-
a woman unrecognizable.
And a prayer before
a night of possibilities can begin.

"Help me be myself
When I'm with everyone else."

I love the vocabulary you used! This is so gorgeous! It is something very unique that i have never heard anything like it before. The only thing i recommend is changing the font color because it is hard to read.

I loved it. I agree with Katrina... The font really helped me visualize the images you created in my head! :)

The font was utterly distracting. I couldn't even finish it. My eyes already burn from the Mac screen. Sorry. I guess I'm in the minority in my opinion. I could have copied it and refonted it. I didn't. Again, sorry.

This was beautiful. I also really liked the usage of your font, it helped enhance the feeling of the poem. Splendid to read.
