The Elementals - A Mumbai Production

A Story by Manish Bhatt

Heat had Air in its throes, suffocating it to the point of exhaustion. Air looked pleadingly towards Rain but no respite came from there. Road was at its tipping point for Air’s bulky bottom was s**t facing it. Breeze tried resuscitating life everywhere but the bulky bottom thwarted its attempts ending it in a shrill and sneezy woosh.

So, Heat suffocated. Air blushed mortally. Road cramped up. Breeze tried vainly.

Almost…… almost had the Air died when Rain decided to rescue it and show-off its benevolence.

So it came down. Steadily at first. Graceful.

Heat evaporated. Air gasped. Road eased. Breeze wetted.

But its benevolence knew no end. And so it continued to come down and down. Grace turned into fury but benevolence hath no end.

So it came down more and more. Fistful of fury with a pinch of panache.

Heat… what heat? Air breathed. Road wetted. Breeze hibernated.

Road wetted, now began to crumble. Dirt loosed first. Road liked it. Then the Road itself started to loosen. Road didn’t like it. But crumble it continued to. Excavate the rain did.

Few particles here and there first. Then mounds of it.

Craters was what was left after Rain had run out of its benevolence albeit temporarily. Craters with brown water. Dust had found its way back into the Road.

No heat. Air slept. Road petrified. Breeze grinned.
