I Smile

I smile because it hurts

I smile to hide the pain

I smile so that I don’t have to cry

I smile so that I can feel alive again

 

A fake smile I have behind these eyes

A fake smile to show you that I’m alive

A fake smile when I feel paralyzed

Another fake smile even when I shine

Because I know that it won’t stay like that for life

 

I put on a smile

This world seems to only want me to hurt

I put on a smile

When I feel down

I put on a smile

So you don’t know that I want to frown

I put on a smile

When I feel like I’m going to burst

 

I smile because I should

I smile because I can

I smile to show you that I’m fine

I smile when I know that I’m a man

I smile when I’m doing well

I smile even when I feel like this is hell

I smile even though I want to cry

I’ll smile till the day I die

I relate to a lot of your stuff but I have some health issues that make this the most relate-able of them all. Repetition doesn't always work in a poem but it's perfect for the message you're conveying in this one.
