One Last Question

One Last Question

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

How do you know that you are doing things right?

How do you know if I fall, I will rise?

How will I know that you’re not feeding me lies?

How can I trust you to be my guide?

I just have one last question

What happens when I die?

Can we see past our own future?

Move faith out of our way

And erase all my past mistakes

I don’t feel love

It’s hard to when there’s no one to trust

I just have one last question

When does this all end?

I know I look okay

But this smile is fake

Day by day hiding all of my pain

I think I need your help

I just have one last question

Why do I feel like this is hell?

As I smoke another cigarette

I contemplate all of my regrets

The questions spread like cancer

And you haven’t answered

I just have one last question

When do I get my chance?
