The Cold Light of Day

The Cold Light of Day

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

You’re not alone

I’m going through it all

Don’t be afraid

I’m here

I’ll carry you home

Through the darkest days

I’ll keep you safe

The sun rises

But I still can’t see the light

Say what you want

My soul has had enough

Depressed

I’m slowing down

Lost

I’m going to drown

Trapped

There’s no way out

Angry

My son is underground

Love

That is never found

I’m going through all these emotions

I have no idea where I’m going

I don’t have control

I’m breaking loose

I want the truth

Why I never got to say I love you

I’m going insane

With all this hatred

I’m sinking further in the deep

I’m choosing to not breathe

Maybe one day

I will find the truth

Getting my chance to say

That I love you

oh woww what a great poem...although it has great deal of depression, frustration and disappointment as well as alot of sorrow and pain, you have written it in a very nice way making very slow nice music felt throught all the lines..
very nice poem, enjoying to read..
