You Hold The Key

You Hold The Key

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

If I say good night

Will I wake up alive?

If I say goodbye

Will I be able to survive?

If I say hold me tight

Will u stay with me for life?

I’m afraid to be alone

Your heart is the key to my soul

Your voice breaks these chains

Your eyes heal all my pain

You hold me so high I float

But you promise to never let go

You whisper, “With me never can you be broken”

You are all that I have got

With-out you I would be so lost

When I’m not with you

Even a minute is too damn long

Every day you make me shine

I make a joke and you smile

This life has never felt more right

I still don’t know the reasons

What this life has in store for me

All I know is that I’ll always be yours

Through the winters cold

To the summer’s heat

Our love can’t be beat

Your heart is the one that holds

The only key to my soul

Look me in my eyes so I know

You promise to never let me go
