Black Memories

Black Memories

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

My thoughts are an endless sea of fire

My dreams are lost in the sky

Too far for me to grab for my life

It doesn’t matter anymore

Everything is getting smothered in lies

Now it’s time for our love to go to war

Heartbreak until my skin aches

The pain makes my bones break

So take away

Everything that I am to you

Bury me underground

Until I suffocate

It wouldn’t be the worst thing you could do

Your words could easily tighten the noose

If I move forward

Why do I keep doing things twice?

It’s like in a battleground

And I have been trapped behind enemy lines

My sorrows mist around me

Mistakes will take me six feet underground

Take me to a place with no return

Well I guess I’ll be in hell

Watching as my thoughts burn and there’s nothing left

If the right goes wrong

You can’t even stand to move on

I’m a go ahead and walk away

Before we are left drowning in our pain

Blood spills like paint on the wall

With your name I call

Asking if this was my fault

I get no answer at all

My hell keeps me there

Where there is no one who cares

My world now torn apart

I feel ashamed

I suffer to the blame

You have scarred on my heart

There’s no turning back

When all of memories turn black
