Between Heaven and Hell

Between Heaven and Hell

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

All you want is this world

To catch fire and burn to ashes

Watching as it floods

As everyone struggles not to drown

In this cold is where your heart is held

In between heaven and hell

Is where your soul fell

All of your wounds never heal

A never ending hole that you can’t feel

This world is too much too real

The lives that you steal

Their memories are too much for you to deal

So they are stuck in between heaven and hell

Where you have their coffins sealed

To feel how I always feel

There is a thin line

Between where their lives lie

Trying to escape from the fire

You reached to the top

And you can’t get much higher

This is heavier than heaven

But stronger than what hell is

In the end you won’t know the difference

Sweating

But not burning

Dead

But you still feel hurt

Hell

Is close to where you are

Heaven

You won’t get that far

As your heart finally stops

The pain doesn't go away

As you take your last breath

Your lungs are still strained

As your body floats

Between heaven and hell

Grabbing your soul

There is no help

When there is nowhere to go
