Falling Beauty

Falling Beauty

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

You are the skies angel

Falling down as you dangle

Crashing emotions as you deny

You are the wasted beauty

As you catch fire

Closing your eyes

Falling in flames

Your memories erased

Feeling the shame

Wasting the beauty

That you deny

To your tragic dreams

Snapping every bone

To the reason of hope

Relates to why you fall alone

In flames as you drown

Falling beauty

Faster as you go down

Breaking beauty as you fall

These words stained on the walls

Falling to the floor

As these words you call

With no wings

You can’t go on anymore

I like the content and the imagery, but I am left wondering if the rhyme scheme and the cadence you chose when you began writing this are wrong for the poem which is maybe why it seems to be breaking down or better yet trying to break free of your control. Maybe free verse would have better to hit the mark that your aiming for?
