Invisible Reflection

Invisible Reflection

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

I tricked my memories

Into thinking that you never hurt me

I’m taking your heart hostage

Proceed with caution

All I ever wanted was you

With-out you I’m frozen and can’t move

You substitute the love with abuse

Realizing I have nothing to lose

Stuck at a dead end

I don’t know which path to choose

This is as good as it gets

Blood seeps out my ears

As you begin to scream at me

Telling me that I’m not even worth one tear

I’m just a word you speak under your breath

An invisible reflection in the mirror

My body lives but my soul isn't here

My memories are hard to remember

My heart you’re trying to dismember

I thought you were my cure so pure

Your face is now so blurry

All you want is to hurt me

And leave me lonely

As my death comes in closely
