Selfish

Selfish

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

How could you do this

look what you did

hurting everyone

cause you selfish

No understanding of what you do

I can’t have a reason for loving you

cause you hide

all your lies

behind those eyes

that you deny

I’m tired of living like this

your soul is hopeless

it’s too late

you can’t save it

cause you’re so selfish

You built yourself inside a mold

while you’re selfish and cold

I’m your world of not knowing

you don’t realize

it’s going to unfold

and break away

your selfish, cold mold

When i read this, I must admit I can be selfish myself at times and sometimes its really hard not to be especially when it comes to people. ( i do not like to get hurt, I prefer to stay in my own world) But i do understand when selfishness can really destroy relationships, especially when it comes to lying and pretending you don't care (or not actually caring). This poems from the point of view of the victim, very well done!
