Knight of Night

Knight of Night

A Poem by Acropolix

There, upon the ancient hill

Where gods and men alike

Watch as shades in the night

I draw my sword so fair to behold

Not of bloodstained steel

But of rotten, crooked wood

I pull down my visor

And mount mine pillow destrier

Ride below a banner

Of torn, soiled silk

Chivalry my armour

There, in all its knightly glory

The enemies of the mind

Come alive in woolen dolls

I awake in sudden terror

My sword licks flames

Fear mirrored in the searing light

The visor smashed to pieces

Mine soft, feathered horse

Stuffed with piercing arrows

A mighty dragon roars

As my clock rings a new morning forth
