The Thorn Bird

The Thorn Bird

A Poem by brandubh

Beneath the fronds of the Yggdrasil tree

The Thorn Bird squawks his mating call

A forlorn sound that disturbs the reverie

Desolate refrains that will never enthrall

That fruitless pursuit to captivate a mate

Drives a Thorn Bird to ineffable despair

A passion of living that it can never sate

A yearning in life that it can never share

Thus the Thorn Bird begins a final quest

Searching the trees for that perfect thorn

A parting descant is lifes solitary behest

An air to please the heart of any Unicorn

With the perfect thorn, sought and found

On that perfect thorn the Thorn bird dies

Lifecycle's one song is a beautiful sound

With the ultimate note, the Phoenix flies
