Faucet

think i left the faucet running / now my words are filling up the tub

my mouth is a faucet
words like water flowing
off my tongue too quick
and i know i was wrong
know that i hurt you
and i promise next time
i will shut down my mind
and turn that faucet off

...unless it was just wasting the preciousness of it away

oh to turn our mouths off- it is such a hard thing to do.
have you heard the toothpaste metaphor about our words... yeah try to get it back in the tube once they are pushed out, good luck.

Hard to shut off the faucet when thoughts are flying around your brain. Great metaphor. Yes, words can hurt and once they are said, they can not be taken back. I liked this one. Lydi**
