I Shall Wait

I Shall Wait

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

As time grows thin,

I shall wait

As life nears its end,

I shall wait

As you grow to love him,

I shall wait

As my love for you will never bend,

I shall wait

As my passion may never die,

I shall wait

As my soul may whistle an alluring tune,

I shall wait

As my spirit may soar ever so high,

I shall wait

As my heart may love only you,

I shall wait

I shall wait for you, for you to see

The love that I express, a love so deep

No matter how long it may take

Whether I live, or die, or one day share my truth

I shall wait...

I shall always wait...

Always for you...

As others have said, the repetition of a soft, sweet line is greatly effective. I also like the alternating lines and their growing and development from the start. Lovely.
