One of those Days

One of those Days

A Poem by Joe

I doze off in my sleep
As the teacher does speak
And I think that her words are quite pointless

I think my own eyes
Wish to stay open at night
And that leaves me tiresome and restless

So I lie awake at night
With the glow-in-the-dark stars shining bright
And I count them one by one
Hoping to find some sense of fun

But sometimes I feel
That the night isn't real
When I dream of the beach and the sounds of the shore

I wander 'cross the sand
Wishing I was holding your hand
And I look to the crystal sky
Asking myself why...Why can't I get some sleep?
