HATE

HATE

A Poem by Colleen C Dunphy
"

from my grad school portfolio

"

Hate.

Hate her.

So much sometimes.

It hurts.

Gotta Hate.

Hate her.

What is it?

Her.

Hate.

Gotta hate.

Wells up inside.

Deep.

Gotta Hate.

Deep inside.

Marrow.

Hate her.

Hate.

Without reason.

Without blame.

Hate her.

Gotta hate.

Hate.

Full of it.

Overflowing.

Hate.

For her.

Toward her.

Monster.

Gotta hate.

Hate.

Takes over.

Possession of the monster.

Hate.

Gotta Hate.

The burning and unending hatred that leads to the corruption of our souls. I too harbored much of it for my father over the years. Fortunately I let it go before it consumed me. You captured it very well, and I enjoyed the way you slid each word down the page, not an easy task on this website. Nicely Done!

Nice layout, gives it a visual edginess.

Simple and effective, the intensity grows with each stanza, but never goes OTT. I like that you've kept it simple. I know I can go a bit crazy with such subjects, but you've done a great job!

Do I sense self-loathing? When you mentioned the "H" word you started speaking my language. Hating oneself can have a positive and negative effect. It could cause you to become a better person, or it can drive you to dispicable self-pity.

Unfortunately, hate is like acid...it not only destroys the object on which it is poured but also the vessel in which it is stored. I do hope you have worked through these feelings by this time in your life. Great rant, though.

I don't think you like this particular person very much. That's what I gathered from the poem.

(I'm witty. Good poem. Bitter. Grr.)
