you're not ugly like they are

you're not ugly like they are

A Poem by Osh

You remind me of the
cigarette burns that spot my back,
like welted constellations.

The introduction of you into my life
was abrupt and unforeseen.

Months passed and your mark on me
was still as fresh as it was
in the beginning.

There'll be a permanent scar
on my heavily
weathered hide.

But unlike
the butt burns from my Father,
your marks are a welcome sight.
