I Am The Boy

I Am The Boy

A Poem by Bryce Simonds
"

"

I am the boy,
That will take your hand
and bring you to an entirely new land

I am the boy,
That will cuddle with you as long as you'd like
To me, it is as simple as riding a bike

I am the boy,
That will tickle you
When there is nothing else left to do

However

I am also the boy,
That hates himself every time he's with you
Just because he never has enough courage

I am also the boy,
That goes slow with every girl he's with
Just because he doesn't want to screw anything up

I am also the boy,
That is afraid of being rejected
Just because he thinks he's not good enough

I am that boy,
Yet to you it doesn't seem to matter.
You seem patient with me.
I have yet to find out why,
but you are.

You are that girl

Love it. If you wrote it for someone they are lucky. The ending is my favourite and 'however' give the poem a nice twist :)

Cute ending. I like how the rhyming changes after the "however". It's not an overly romantic or mushy poem, but instead feels a little raw, which is nice.
